Saddened by the untimely death of Kgosi Sephola Petrus Motsepe of Bakgatla-Ba-Mmakau Traditional Council, the North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, China Dodovu wishes to express with greatest sympathy his heartfelt condolences to the Motsepe royal family, the Bakgatla-Ba-Mmakau Traditional Council and the community of Mmakau as a whole.
MEC Dodovu said that traditional leaders like Kgosi Motsepe played an important role in enhancing government’s developmental mandate in rural traditional communities. “Bakgatla-Ba-Mmakau your loss is our greatest loss, with my heart pierced with sorrow I wish to commit the support of my department to the family during their time of sorrow. Not only have we lost a community leader, but we have also lost a pillar in the traditional affairs fraternity, he said.
The Chairperson of the Provincial House of Traditional Affairs Kgosi Madoda Zibi when conveying his message of condolences to the family and community said “We have lost a true community leader, a teacher, a father and most of all a visionary. This country needs a person of Kgosi Motsepe’s caliber to work with government in enhancing the lives of our rural traditional communities. We trust that Kgosi Motsepe’s vision will continue to exist for the growth and prosperity of his people,” he said.
Kgosi Motsepe has been a Kgosi of the Bakgatla-Ba-Mmakau since1976. He died at the age of 73 and will be buried on Saturday, 24 November 2012 at the Mmakau cemetery.
