The Presidency has noted the statement by the Leader of the Democratic Alliance in the National Assembly Mr Athol Trollip, relating to the non-release of the names of Members of the National Executive who failed to timeously make their disclosures in terms of the Executive Code of Ethics in 2009.
As said in President Jacob Zuma’s reply to Parliament, this failure was a bona fide mistake as the members had disclosed their assets and interests to Parliament at the same time in terms of the Parliamentary Ethics Code.
When the mistake was realised, all Members of the Executive corrected their mistake and made the correct disclosures.
In replying to Mr Trollip’s question, the President did not feel that any useful purpose would be served in releasing the names as members had already complied.
The national executive has nothing to hide on this matter and here are the names:
1. President Jacob Zuma
