President Jacob Zuma has received the recommendations of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers with regard to salaries and allowances of the public office bearers.
The President is empowered by the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act, 1998 (Act No.20 of 1998) (the Act) to determine salaries, allowances and other benefits of the public office bearers.
After taking into consideration the recommendations of the Commission and other relevant factors prescribed by the Act, the President determined that the total remuneration of all public office bearers should be adjusted by 5% with effect from 01 April 2010.
The President would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Commission for its work.
