The Department of Higher Education and Training would like to place on record that Cida City Campus is a private higher education institution and as such is regulated by the department in terms of the Regulatory Framework for Private Higher Education Institutions so as to ensure that the post school system provides both youth and adults with opportunities to participate and gain an education to improve their lives and contribute towards the economic development of the country.
The decision by the Business Rescue Practitioner, Mr Rob Devereux, for and on behalf of Cida City Campus NPC, to deregister students was not endorsed by the department. The department is concerned about the plight of these students and will be liaising with the Business Rescue Practitioner in this regard. The department has already started assisting individual students who have approached the department requesting assistance in one way or another.
The department remains committed to providing an enabling environment for all students to access post school education and calls upon the Cida City Campus Business Rescue Practitioner to act in a responsible manner which is in the interest of all parties concerned including the students entrusted within its care.
