Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe arrives in the Kingdom of Denmark

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, on Saturday 22 October 2011 arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark to commence the last leg of his working visit to the Nordic countries.

This visit aims at further consolidating and enhancing political and economic relations between South Africa and the Nordic countries.

Deputy President Motlanthe will meet with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Ms Helle Thorning-Schmidt, to discuss issues of common interest and reinforce the partnership between South Africa and Denmark. They will also exchange ideas on the forth-coming 17th UN Conference of Parties (COP17) due to take place in South Africa in November 2011.

During this visit Deputy President will accompanied by the Minister of Energy Ms Dipuo Peters, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Mr Marius Fransman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Ms Thandie Tobias-Pokolo.

Deputy President Motlanthe is expected to return to South Africa on Monday, 24 October 2011.
