The Deputy Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo embarked on an outreach programme today in Modimolle, Limpopo through the Community Development Workers (CDW) Programme.
Accompanied by the Local Mayor, Ms Meisie Lekalakala and the MEC of Health and Social Development, Ms Dikeledi Magadzi, the Deputy Minister began her outreach programme with a visit to the HF Odendaal Hospital, one of nine hospitals in the Waterberg Municipality.
The Deputy Minister visited the paediatiric, female and maternity wards and the storage facility while senior government official and Community Development Workers (CDWs) went to the pharmacy and kitchen. She was pleased with the cleanliness and service in the hospital though she expressed a need for improvement," I'm happy with the hospital, it is clean and the service is good but improvements can be made." she said.
This was followed by a door-to-door campaign in Phagameng township in ward seven where several homes were visited and the Deputy Minister engaged with the community. The challenges facing this community include child headed homes, bad living conditions and lack of access to social grants.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Minister emphasised that this was not just an outreach programme, "We are here not only to get in touch with our people but also to assess their quality of life so we can improve it".
In a joint effort with the Community Development Workers (CDWs) and the service delivery unit within the Department of Public Service and Administration, assistance will be given to households in need and the greater community.
