The Minister of Basic Education has deployed her Deputy Minister, Enver Surty and the Director-General to the scene of a car accident in which 16 teachers were fatally injured while on their way to a Teacher conference in North West today. “An injury to a teacher is an injury to the education system,” says Minister Motshekga who is in the Eastern Cape for a sod turning event in Umtata.
The department has expressed its sincere condolences to the affected schools, friends and families of the deceased.
The Deputy Minister of Basic Education is scheduled to convey Minister Motshekga’s message of support to the delegates.
