Deputy Minister Andries Nel meeting with Deputy Minister Alberto Pedro D' Alotto, Secretary of Foreign Relations, Argentine Republic, Pretoria

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Andries Nel, MP, met with the Argentine Republic's Secretary of Foreign Relations, Deputy Minister Alberto Pedro D'Alotto, in Pretoria yesterday. Deputy Minister Alberto Pedro D'Alotto is on two day official visit to South Africa to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in the multilateral context.

The meeting discussed the forthcoming conference on Human Rights and Forensic Sciences which will take place between 31 October and 4 November 2011 in South Africa.

The workshop to be held under the theme "Reclaiming stolen lives: forensic sciences and human rights investigations" will focus on the collection of ante-mortem data about missing or disappeared people, the recovery and analysis of human remains in order toidentify them and record trauma and the use of DNA in the identification process.

Both Deputy Ministers agreed that this conference is significant in that it will provide a platform for both countries to share similarities and differences and challenges they are facing in the investigation of human rights cases.
