The Department of Trade and Industry's South African handmade collection to take part at the Decorex Cape Town 2011

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), initiators of the South African Handmade Collection (SAHC) will once again participate at Decorex Cape Town that will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, from 29 April to 2 May 2011. Craft enterprises from nine provinces will exhibit at the show under the SAHC brand.

The event aims at creating an enabling and supportive environment through which the craft producers are able to continually grow and develop their business.

According to Malebo Mabitjie-Thompson, Chief Operating Officer of the dti's Industrial Development Division, SAHC represents the highest quality, design and environmentally friendly produced products and brings together the most exquisite collection of exhibitors, design icons and rising stars,” said Mabitjie-Thompson.

She also said that the dti in partnership with Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) will offer the extensive pre-and-post exhibition training, which includes design, product development, costing, packing and branding, and quality assurance workshops.

The South African Handmade Collection-Decorex Cape Town is a collaborative project between the dti, private sector and provincial Government departments.
