The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) would like to express its disappointment that it has not been able to facilitate an arrangement to preserve strategic capacity and the employment of 1 400 people, represented by the business and assets of the Frame Vertical Pipeline.
The involvement of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies and Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel, in this matter has been motivated by a desire to attempt to facilitate the preservation of strategic capacity and employment in a global and domestic environment which is placing parts of our manufacturing sector under serious threat.
Under similar circumstances where there are difficult and strategic decisions at stake within our manufacturing sector the Ministers will similarly engage actively with the situation to seek to facilitate avoidance of loss of strategic capacity and employment.
