The Gauteng Department of Health would like to reassure all non-governmental organisations which are still awaiting payments that the monies will be released tomorrow,Thursday, 10 May 2012.
Some NGOs were paid last week but there are some that did not receive the money due to them, because of technical problems experienced with the payment run. An amount of R63 million is scheduled to be released tomorrow. The department is doing everything possible to ensure that all obstacles to payments are removed and that the money is released immediately.
Non-governmental organisations are our important partners in service delivery and we are committed to ensuring that they do not experience obstacles in their endeavors to assist in the care for the vulnerable members of our society. NGOs are part of 2 600 suppliers that have been prioritised to payment in this period.
Last week all suppliers of medicines and medical products were paid in full and final settlement of monies owed to them. The success of this payment underlines the seriousness with which the department regards the commitment it has made to honour all its obligations.
