The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State province will embark on a campaign to raise awareness on drugs and human trafficking in communities around the Setsoto Local Municipality (Ficksburg) and the Lesotho border post on Friday, 17 August 2012 as part of Women’s Month celebrations.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness around issues of human trafficking and drug abuse in the province especially around the Lesotho border and to remind both Lesotho and Free State citizens that human trafficking is a serious problem that warrants urgent intervention on all fronts. The campaign will also remind citizens about ill effects of drugs on human being.
The MEC for Police, Roads and Transport Honourable Butana Komphela, is among the dignitaries who will grace the occasion. MEC Komphela will be accompanied by senior Police officers from the South African Police Services (SAPS) and their counterparts from Lesotho as well as senior government officials from both countries.
The Department of Police, Roads and Transport would like to invite all media representatives to the event to contribute in the fight against drugs and human trafficking by informing the general public about the ill effects of them on human beings.
