Department of Police, Roads and Transport message to all road users

Free State Department of Police, Roads and Transport would like to appeal to all road users not to allow road accidents to spoil the festivities and joyous celebrations during this Easter weekend. We urge all road users - pedestrians, passengers and motorists - to act responsibly and take the greatest care when traveling to and from their holiday destinations.

Human life is our dearest possession; let us preserve it. Road accidents have a huge emotional trauma and financial costs to our country; let’s avoid accidents by obeying the rules of the road.

Always remember the following:

  • Do not exceed the speed limits;
  • Don’t drink and drive;
  • Do not overload the vehicle;
  • Always put on your safety belt;
  • Your vehicle must be roadworthy;
  • Look out for pedestrians., and
  • Rest when you feel tired.

Government cannot win this battle alone without the necessary support of all road users. We need to work together to ensure that our roads are safe for everyone during this holidays.
