Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources invites members of the media to engage on the details around the rollout of the cadastral system (online licensing system)

The Director- General of the Department of Mineral Resources invites members of the media to a presentation on the new licensing and management system commonly referred to as the Cadastral System. The engagement will provide members of the media with an opportunity to interact directly with the Department and gain insights into the implementation of the system, progress made to date, and the anticipated benefits for the mining sector.

The introduction of the Cadastre System marks a significant milestone in the Department’s efforts to modernise the regulation of mineral resources. By replacing the legacy SAMRAD system and the associated manual processes, the new platform offers a secure, fully digital solution that enhances operational efficiency, strengthens regulatory compliance, improves transparency, and promotes greater stakeholder confidence and engagement.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Virtual round-table engagement as follows:

Date: Monday, 15 June 2026
Time: 10h00

Members of the media are requested to confirm their attendance (RSVP) to receive the virtual meeting link.
