Department launch new website after the last one was hacked.

The Department of Local Government and Housing has unveiled a new website to the public. This comes in the wake of the merger of the Department of Housing with Local Government. The new website is one of the projects which were selected to be completed before the beginning of the new financial year.

“We pushed forward the launch of the website in order to close the gap created by the hacking of the local government website in January. This made us aware that we could not continue servicing two websites simultaneously. We should have one website to service the Local Government and Housing stakeholders in Gauteng. In any case we had no reason not to launch the new website because the project had been presented to the merger team after its completion. We hope that visitors to the website will find it appealing, informative, relevant and educational,” said MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro.

The acting Head of Department had this to say about the launch “we are taking a great step in embracing modern technology and expanding our marketing and communication programmes. This is also a critical milestone towards achieving a unified department as the website will now offer a single point of entry to the department, from a technology point of view. Most importantly, the website will become a window to the external stakeholders as well as millions of people all over the world who may be using their computers to search for information about our country and government,” said Mongezi Mnyani acting Head of Department.

The new website has undergone a complete redesign, with a new image reflecting all our key services and our mandate. This is an excellent example of how we can all work together to realise the mandate and objectives of the merged department. “The launch of this new website embodies the department’s unwavering quest to ensure that its multiple stakeholders and beneficiaries can have an easy access to quality information,” said Mongezi Mnyani.

The new website is now functional and you can log on http://www.dlgh.gpg.gov.za.
