The Department of Labour has expressed happiness at the fact that President Jacob Zuma has acceded to legislative amendments to the Labour Relations Act following protracted engagements with social partners.
Thembinkosi Mkalipi, acting deputy director-general for labour market policy, said the department was happy that the President has accepted the law.
“What the department is doing following this step is to finalise all the regulations that go with the newly-signed law before it is promulgated,’’ Mkalipi said.
He said the department would then approach the President with the hope that it would be signed before the beginning of October.
