Department of Justice seeks Prinsloo's extradition

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development welcomes the arrest of Dirk Prinsloo in Belarus. He is a fugitive from justice who violated his bail conditions and consequently failed to stand trial in South Africa.

As Central Authority on extradition matters, the Director-General in the Department, Advocate Menzi Simelane, will initiate extradition process soon after consulting with relevant stakeholders in the cluster (South African Police Service (SAPS) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)). Once all compliance aspects in terms of the treaty between South Africa and Belarus are satisfied, Pretoria will make contact with Minsk in order to facilitate Prinsloo's extradition to stand trial on crimes he is alleged to have committed in South Africa.
