Department hosted women in uniform - interprovincial roadblock

The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State Province hosted a very successful roadblock at Villiers (N3 Road) on the 28th August 2012, as part of Free State Government Women's Months Programme. The operation was executed jointly with Mpumalanga Law Enforcement and Transport officers.

In celebrating Women's Month, the roadblock was hosted mainly by women in uniform from Traffic, SAPS, Correctional Services, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Service and N3 Toll concession. During the operation 798 cars were stopped and searched, while 1 861 people were searched and six fire arms were inspected.

Traffic Notices issued during the operation were 113 for an amount of R51 450 and R24 200 was paid on the spot.

The department had numerous activities during this Women's Month, including awareness campaign on Human Trafficking in Ficksburg border post on the 17th August 2012, wherein the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Honourable Butana Komphela graced the occasion, as well as Police women from Lesotho.

MEC Butana Komphela congratulated officials who took part in making these operations a resounding success and also said that we should have good relations with other provinces and countries to promote legitimate trade and employment and not social ills.
