Department of Home Affairs welcomes Western Cape High Court ruling regarding Dalai Lama

The Department of Home Affairs welcomes the judgment in the Western Cape High Court today, Friday, 3 February 2012 dismissing the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Congress of the People (Cope) application against government regarding the visa application for the Dalai Lama.

The application brought against the Departments of Home Affairs and International Relations and Co-operation was dismissed as being “moot”.

The Department is currently studying the full text of the judgment with a view to making a full statement on the matter.
