Department of Home Affairs welcomes court judgment against Chinese National

The Department of Home Affairs today Thursday, 2 June 2011 welcomes the judgment in the Johannesburg High Court against a Chinese national found to be in possession of a fraudulent permit allowing him to remain in the country illegally.

Bin Chen, a Chinese national approached the high court to challenge his impending  deportation by the Department of Home Affairs. The department argued that his papers are fake and thus fraudulent and must be deported. The judge therefore ruled that Chen's papers were “manifestly fake”. Accordingly the department is currently making  arrangements for his deportation in line with the court order.

The judgment communicates an unequivocal message to all those who harbor the  intention of staying illegally in South Africa through fake and/or fraudulently acquired  documents that the government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring they face the full might of the law and will indeed be subjects of deportation.
