Department is committed to paying service providers

The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development has informed the Gauteng legislature that all outstanding payments to service providers will be settled by the end of June 2010.

Since the beginning of this financial year, 1 April 2010, the department has paid R300 million to service providers.

MEC Qedani Mahlangu told the Health and Social Development committee at the legislature yesterday that there was still an outstanding amount of R650 million.

“By the end of next week, R300 million will be paid for medical supplies and the remaining debts will be settled by the end of June this year,” said MEC Mahlangu.
