Department calls for harsher sentence against abusers of Limpopo woman

The Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana, says no mercy must be shown against those found guilty of the brutal violence perpetrated against the Limpopo woman. The brutal violence against the woman was caught on video.

This incident demonstrates total disrespect for human dignity and the rights of women in our society. This is unacceptable in a free and democratic society. While nothing can reverse the indignity and humiliation that this violence has brought to the woman, as a society we can ensure that perpetrators face the full wrath of the law and that justice is seen to be done.

We urge our law-enforcement agencies not to rest until those guilty of this heinous crime are placed behind bars.
