The Department of Basic Education has activated its provincial monitoring teams to monitor the strike by teacher union SADTU today.
In light of the action, the strike committees will report to the department on the progress of learning and teaching and any disruptions that may occur.
The Department of Basic Education will issue a preliminary statement on the effect of the strike at 11h00 this morning and a further statement this afternoon to capture the full impact of the strike on the system.
