Department of Basic Education and British Council Present - Quality of English Teaching in South Africa Schools

The British Council in partnership with the Department of Basic Education will be jointly presenting a paper on the Quality of English Teaching in South African Schools at the 48th Annual International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language Conference (IATEFL) which will take place in Harrogate, UK, from the 2 April to 5 April 2014.

The IATEFL International Annual Conference & Exhibition each spring is one of the main events in the English Language Teaching calendar. Attended by over 2,500 ELT professionals from more than 100 countries, it involves a four day programme of around 500 talks, workshops and symposiums. This offers delegates a unique opportunity to meet leading theorists and writers, and exchange ideas with fellow professionals from all sectors of ELT (English Language Teaching).

Dr Jenny Joshua, Haroon Mahomed and Caroline Grant will be presenting and giving insight on the EFAL (English First Additional Language) collaboration between the DBE and British Council. This presentation will help build capacity in the partnerships for global EFAL best practice.
