The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is aware of media reports claiming that the South African Air Force has provided air cover to the Chadian Defence Force in their pursuit of Boko Haram.
The SANDF is dismayed and wishes to distance itself from these false media reports as they are speculative, misleading and baseless without any substance. For the record, the SANDF has not deployed any of its personnel nor any of its military assets in that area or region.
The SANDF wishes to state publicly that all military deployments are sanctioned and authorised in accordance to strict processes as guided by our Constitution and government.
