Day three (3) of the National Senior Certificate Examinations went without glitches. According to reports from the provinces no major incidents took place. 88 727 learners sat for First Additional Language while 50 724 wrote Home Language. A further 20 128 Full Time candidates sat for their Second Additional Language to write the Afrikaans examination. A total of 4 618 Part Time candidates had registered.
After the examinations some learners took to Twitter under the #Classof2013 to express their happiness with their performance and commented on how the paper went “@DBE_SA I really enjoyed the Huistaal's comic! But the comprehension was a bit tricky”, “@DBE_SA I enjoyed most of it :)” and another learner tweeting “@DBE_SA. Afr FAL - I Loved the comprehension. The paper wasn't lengthy as well. #KeepingUp.”
As the examinations continue free of incident the department continues to strive towards a efficient administration of the 2013 NSC Examinations. Learners will sit for their second English paper on Thursday, 31 October 2013.
