Day 25: 2009 national senior certificate examinations continue smoothly

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is pleased to announce that the 2009 national senior certificate examinations in all centres continue without any serious problems.

“We have set up small teams of experienced officials in each province and they assure us of the good progress thus far.

Isolated problems and irregularities identified are dealt with through due processes. The physical science paper two (2) incident in the Gauteng Department of Education has been dealt with, and the National Examinations Irregularities Committee is investigating the validity of all provincial reports received.

Marking guideline development continues smoothly and all the marking guidelines of subjects reported to have been leaked, have been completed and signed off by the Umalusi external moderators.

We can confidently say that all systems are ready and that final results will be announced on 7 January 2010. Our appreciation to all teachers, invigilators and officials involved in these examinations, for their commitment, dedication and hard work in helping us to shape the future of our learners,” says Minister Motshekga.
