CRL Rights Commission wishes South Africans wonderful Freedom Month celebrations

The Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) wishes the citizens of South Africa wonderful Freedom Month.

Freedom Day commemorates the first democratic elections held in South Africa on 27 April 1994 and is celebrated annually as a reminder of the struggle for a free and just South Africa. This year, South Africa celebrates 18 years of freedom and democracy in South Africa and the achievements we have made as a nation.

The CRL Commission is proud to be a product of this day in which peace, stability and nation building were entrenched in our constitution. Among others the CRL Commission was other chapter 9 institutions that were tasked to:

  • Promote respect for and further the protection of the rights of cultural, religious and linguistic communities
  • Promote the right of communities to develop their historical diminished heritage among others
  • Promote and preserve peace, nation building, social cohesion and tolerance,
  • Preserve diminishing and diminished heritage through culture, religion and language practices,
  • Foster mutual respect among cultural, religious and linguistic communities.

The CRL Commission would like to encourage South Africans to celebrate the achievements and the transformation that was brought by democracy.
