Countdown to register for 2012 matric examinations

Learners wishing to write grade 12 examinations at the end of this year have until 15 March 2012 to register. Full-time candidates, repeater candidates and Adult Education Training Level 4 candidates will need to register now in order to write the National Senior Certificate examinations in October and November of this year.

Schools have been given registration forms for learners to fill and return before the closing date. All learners doing matric this year, at public schools, independent schools and at AETs have to fill in the forms. This is to avoid disappointment at the end of the year just before the final examinations where some learners discover that either they are not registered or their institution is a bogus school.

There is no cost to register to write matric. Repeater candidates should register at their district office. The district office will check if the institution they are studying through is registered. Last year, we had 35 000 part-time learners which includes those learners wishing to improve certain subjects from their previous matric results or those learners who are registered through AET centres.
