It is a few days before the closing date for Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and Community based projects to apply for funding from the Grant-in-Aid programme of the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation.
Applications close on Thursday, 31 May for those in need to submit their applications for funding for 2013.
“We are making a final call and thereby encourage communities and Community Based orgnisations to take this opportunity to apply for assistance in carrying out their work. Their work is an extension of government in delivering much needed services to our people” says MEC Maile.
Applications can be submitted for funding for programmes within the 3 areas of Sport, HIV and AIDS and the Arts. For sport funding is injected into federations to support various sporting codes such as soccer, netball, rugby in provision of products like sporting equipments.
For HIV and AIDS funding is meant for organisations that provide awareness programmes during sporting and arts activities to encourage healthy lifestyles. The third area of funding relates to the Arts which include crafters, theatre, dance groups and music festivals in smaller margins.
Application forms and guidelines can be accessed at the reception area of the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation at 85 Rissik corner Market Street in Johannesburg.
