Correctional Services on Oscar Pistorius parole

Kgosi Mampuru II Parole Board considers Oscar Pistorius' case

The Department of Correctional Services can confirm that the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) is sitting today - 9 October - to reconsider the case of Oscar Pistorius' placenent under correctional supervision.

The seating follows the setting aside by the Parole Review Board, of the CSPB's 5 June 2015 decision to place Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision with effect from 21 August 2015. The call for review was submitted by the Minister of Justice and Correctional Supervision Adv Michael Masutha, on the grounds that the decision was taken prematurely and contrary to the Correctional Services Act.

The autonomous CSPB of Kgosi Mampuru II, is expected to consider all issues raised by the Parole Review Board and make a decision, which will be communicated accordingly. We cannot speculate or predict the outcomes of today's meeting of the parole board.
