Correctional Services national commissioner expresses condolences to family of assassinated C-Max official in Pretoria

Correctional Services National Commissioner, Mr Tom Moyane has expressed shock at the brutal killing of the department's official working at C-Max Correctional Centre in Pretoria yesterday morning.

The Official, Thomas Moraka Malamatsho, was gunned down by two unknown assailants at his home yesterday morning in Mamelodi East.

Commissioner Moyane, speaking from Mozambique where he is attending a three days Southern African Development Community (SADC) Conference of Defence and Security expressed condolences to the Malamatsho family and to his colleagues who have been devastated by the incident

He also called for calm and assured all that necessary steps will be taken by law enforcement agencies to ensure their safety.

The late Malamatsho was described by both managers and colleagues as a principle and dedicated correctional official that symbolised the ideal correctional official envisaged in the White Paper on Corrections.

A top level team of the South Africa Police Services (SAPS) assisted by other law enforcement agencies is investigating the murder and will establish the real motives for the murder.

Commissioner Moyane also condemned the killing as callous and assured that law enforcement agencies will ensure that the perpetrators are caught and face the full might of the law.
