Correctional Services Minister, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula MP, in consultation with the Minister of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) has decided to re-determine the expiry date of the employment contract of Correctional Services National Commissioner Ms Xoliswa Sibeko.
This follows Minister Mapisa Nqakula’s decision to extend National Commissioner Sibeko’s special leave in December last year, after she had been cleared of any wrong doing in the matter of rented accommodation at cost to the state.
However, it must be remembered Minister Mapisa-Nqakula had asked for time to study the judgment of that enquiry and indicated that she would weigh her options going forward and make known her intentions on the future of the National Commissioner in due course.
As a result of the re-determination of Ms Sibeko’s contract of employment, which was due to expire on 13 August 2010, her services to the department effectively come to an end today, 22 February 2010.
This means therefore Ms Sibeko’s tenure as Director-General in the department has come to an end.
