The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) wishes to confirm that Mr. Golden Miles Bhudu was arrested today, 29 April 2014 at the High of South Africa Gauteng Division, Pretoria, following his unauthorized use of prescribed sentenced offender uniform.
Section 124b of the Correctional Services Act, Act 111 of 1998, states: “Any unauthorized person who wears or uses the prescribed sentenced offender dress, or anything deceptively resembling them is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or, in default of payment, to incarceration for a period not exceeding 18 months or to such incarceration without the option of a fine or both.”
The South African Police Service is currently investigating the matter.
