Ministry for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation has noted reports in the media that the Presidential hotline might be closed and wish to state that the hotline will not be closed and will remain offering services to the people of South Africa.
The Presidency issued a statement in September on the first anniversary of the Presidential Hotline, which indicated that the hotline will be reviewed.
The statement said, “The Department for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation will conduct a first year assessment of the hotline to look at challenges, successes and opportunities to improve the hotline. The review will inform the interventions that need to be introduced to make the hotline more effective.”
President Jacob Zuma established the Hotline and Public Liaison Unit to ensure easier access to the Presidency and to promote citizen care and a government that is responsive, interactive and effective. The hotline is still relevant and continues to receive calls from South Africans who wish to communicate with government.
