Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Richard Baloyi commits during National Council of Provinces (NCOP) taking Parliament to People event in Northern Cape

Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Richard Baloyi has during the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) event of taking Parliament to the People in Northern Cape on the week of 5-9 November 2012 committed take public participation to another level. That will involve engagement of Parliamentary Constituency Offices to ensure that communities play a meaningful role in public participation as well as improving community participation in terms process of Integrated Development Planning (IDP).

On issues of Traditional Leadership the Minister committed to instruct the Lawyers representing the Portfolio to expedite outstanding issues with regard to the decisions of the Nhlapo Commission in relation to rightful traditional leaders as well as to strengthen efforts in defending decisions that have statutory effect due to the findings and recommendations of the Commission so that there could be finality on the matter.
