The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) sends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late Dr Teboho Maitse. The passing on of such a gender activist will solely be missed by those who had embraced her and those that she had embraced over the years.
Dr Maitse was a Commissioner from 2002 – 2012. Within the CGE, she served in various committees such as the Gender-Based Violence and Culture, Tradition and Religion. She was so passionate about human rights and human capacity development. Dr Maitse had a wonderful rapport with both Commissioners and Staff.
Dr. Maitse served in numerous boards in an endeavour to bring gender transformation. She was also an active member of the African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) “It is through heroines like her that today we have CGE, which has to ensure that whatever she fought for is not be in vain. As the Commission we mourn and henceforth celebrate the life well spent. Indeed, the country will surely miss her,” said Mr Mfanozelwe Shozi, the Chairperson of the Commission for Gender Equality.
On behalf of the Commission for Gender Equality, “We say your memory and what you laboured for will be your legacy. We shall never forget the footprints you left behind” Mfanozelwe added.
Rest in Peace! Robala ka khotso, Etlela hi ku rhula!!!
