Communications and Digital Technologies bids farewell to ICASA Councillor Yolisa Kedama

The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies bids farewell to ICASA Councillor, Ms Yolisa Kedama. Ms Kedama, served in the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) as a councillor and also an Acting Chairperson for a year. Her leadership and dedication have significantly shaped the regulatory landscape from 2020 to September 13, 2024.

During her tenure, she co-chaired and chaired numerous key projects, many of which continue to evolve and progress. Her involvement has been crucial in steering ICASA’s strategic initiatives and contributing to both national and international dialogues in the communications sector.

Her immense contribution to the sector and the regulator in particular has seen the sector progressively evolving and addressing major challenges from remuneration frameworks, conflict of interest regulations, and the accessibility of democratic institutions, she also shaped discussions on 5G rollout, cybersecurity, and regulatory models.
