The Portfolio Committee on Telecommunications and Postal Services welcomes the agreement reached by Sentech management and its organised labour to end a two-week-long strike.
The Committee further notes with appreciation that, while the strike lasted for two weeks, Sentech’s services were not disrupted.
“While commending the management and organised labour for resolving the wage dispute that posed a threat to the country’s communication and broadcasting services, we call on the two parties to find an amicable, long-lasting solution in order to prevent the same thing happening in future,” Committee Chairperson Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi said.
The Committee holds in high regard the fact that Sentech is responsible for delivering essential service to the entire citizenry, and any potential disruption to the work of the entity calls for concern to the Committee.
