President Jacob Zuma has, in terms of section 25 of the South African Human Rights Commission Act, 2013 (Act No. 40 of 2013), fixed 05 September 2014 as the date on which the said Act will come into operation.
President Zuma assented to the Act in January 2014.
The Act aims to, amongst others, provide the composition of powers, functions and functioning of the South African Human Rights Commission. It will also provide for the repeal of the Human Rights Commission Act of 1994 as well as provide for matters connected therewith.
