The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications Mr Eric Kholwane has welcomed the announcement by President Jacob Zuma regarding the appointment of the four South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board members.
They are Dr Sethe Makhesha, John Danana, Advocate Cawekazi Mahlati and Lumko Mtimde.
Mr Kholwane said he would like to thank all the members of the Board for ensuring that the SABC functions well and does not collapse whilst it fell short of Board members.
“The new members of the Board have a responsibility to continue, the Board needs to correct the challenges and lead the public broadcaster in the right path,” said Kholwane.
They new Board members replace the four Board members who resigned last year. The appointments were made in terms of the Broadcasting Act of 1999, and are with effect from 3 June 2011.
