Census 2011 Results: When and what is available for users?

The much-awaited Census 2011 data is set to be released from 30 October 2012, after the results have been handed to President Jacob Zuma.

Census 2011 was the third population and housing count in post-apartheid South Africa. The results will provide details about how the country has evolved since the last Census in 2001.

The Census 2011 results contain information about South Africa’s population, household, migration trends and service delivery levels. These will be availed to the public in different formats and platforms, namely printed and electronic formats, interactive products as well as smart-phone applications.

Standard print products

The printed products will be available from Stats SA offices from 30 October 2012. These products will be released in a staggered schedule and can be obtained by contacting Stats SA offices or website at www.statssa.gov.za (StatsOnline).

Electronic products

Electronic products will be available on StatsOnline and can be downloaded from 30 October 2012.

Interactive electronic products

The interactive products such as SuperWeb and Nesstar will allow users to access and produce their own tables from Census 2011 data via StatsOnline or a CD-ROM. These can be obtained with SuperTable software that can be loaded on users' PCs. These products will also be available from 30 October 2012 onwards.

Special requests

For all non-standard special requests that users might require, cross-tabulations can be requested from any of the Stats SA offices.
