Celebrating Mandela Mondays and International Mandela Day 18th Working Together to Build a Caring Society

The Cultural, Religious and Language Rights commission endorses the Mandela Mondays that was initiated on  1 June 2011 as part of encouraging a caring nation and committing five minutes of our daily work in caring for the poor, needy and vunerable.

We therefore call upon our Cultural, Religious and Language Communities to dedicate their five minutes every Monday until 17 July 2011 and later commit their 67 minutes on 18 July 2011 by caring and respecting the vulnerable, youth and elderly people. The CRL Rights Commission endorses the International Mandela Day under the theme "Working Together to Build a Caring Society and recalls one of the famous words of then former President Nelson Mandela in his eldery dews that 'let us build one another' (Masakhane).

As we celebrate this Mandela Mondays the CRL Rights Commission and its affiliated communities would like to remind South Africans that, let us care and share his words for five minutes and boldly implement his words that asakhane is about people taking  responsibility for their own upliftment and participating in the governing of their own lives, it is about empowering our elves by creating good working relations between government and communities, for the benefit of everybody'.
