Cebolesizwe Family Resource Centre gives care to needy families

Cebolesizwe Family Resource Centre is a facility that cares for women and children who are the victims of domestic violence and other related forms of violence in their communities.

This centre is situated in Dimbaza location outside King Williams Town in the Amathole District Municipality. With just five staff members, they run an aftercare centre, income generating project, skills development programme, door to door campaigns and Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD), amongst many.

This project was initiated back in 2005, but received funding of R300 000 from Department of Social Development in 2008, according to Project Manager, Ms Siziwe Magobiyane. “We found the going tough, but with the intervention of Social Development, things are not the same,” Ms Magobiyane said.

In their aftercare programme, they currently have 20 children, whom they are chose by their schools. Through their skills development programme, fourteen securities, five computer skilled pupils, 30 parents on parenting skills, 30 fathers on fatherhood and eight people on ECD have been trained on this centre.

“We are currently dealing with pupils who are abused at schools,” Ms Magobiyane added. Their staff comprises of a manager and four field workers.
