Committee Chairperson, Mr Ismail Vadi says formal advertisements will be placed in the weekend’s newspapers calling on the public to nominate persons for the four vacancies that had arisen due to the recent resignations of Board members, and the President’s acceptance of their resignation notices.
Candidates will be eligible for nomination if they possess relevant qualifications, expertise and experience in the fields of:
- Broadcasting policy and technology
- Broadcasting regulation
- Media law
- Business practice and finance
- Marketing and journalism
- Entertainment and education and
- Social and labour issues.
The candidates must also be committed to fairness, freedom of expression, openness and accountability.
Mr Vadi explained that the committee will compile a shortlist of candidates, conduct interviews and present its findings to the National Assembly for recommendation to the president for final appointment.
Nominations will close on 15 November 2010.
