At the conclusion of the 2011 Good Governance Conference, participants resolved to have an ongoing good governance campaign. The participants further resolved that the campaign will be anchored in a recognisable good governance symbol and a Charter or Framework.
The Good Governance initiative is aimed at creating a collective national good governance consciousness. It is a multi-stakeholder initiative led by institutions supporting democracy, other oversight agencies and civil society.
The Public Protector is running a competition for the design of the symbol which will represent good governance in the similar way the red ribbon is a symbol for the HIV and AIDS campaign.
Young adults aged between 18 and 35 are invited to design and submit entries for possible selection. Family members/relatives of Public Protector staff are not eligible for the competition.
The design must be accompanied by a narrative of the meaning of the symbol in terms of the colour and shape and why the symbol is appropriate to connote a commitment to good governance.
The copyright of the winning design will vest with the Good Governance partner institutions.
The winning designer will receive a laptop valued at R10 000. The closing date for all entries is 11 October 2012
