British BPO firm opens Cape Town office

A leading UK law firm opened a Cape Town office in a highly skilled Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector.

Radiant Law opened its Cape Town operation last month.

The Cape Town operation will offer high-level legal advice on technology, outsourcing and commercial contracts as a Managed Legal Service.

This falls under Legal Process Outsourcing, a specialised sector within BPO.
Alan Winde, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, welcomed the firm to the Western Cape.

“I’m thrilled Radiant Law have decided to invest in the Western Cape. This speaks to the confidence firms have in the region as a world-class business destination. For UK companies, our province is home to a talented and dedicated work force who have great English language skills. In addition, there is a minimal time zone difference between the Western Cape and the UK,” said Minister Winde.

Minister Winde said BPO was an important job creator, specifically for youth.
“The BPO sector employs around 40 000 people and is worth R8 billion. By 2016, it’s expected the sector will employ 65 303 people. There are significant opportunities to grow the Western Cape’s market share in niche segments of BPO, such as the LPO sector,” said Minister Winde.

Justin Cornish, head of Radiant Law’s Cape Town operation, said: “The choice of Cape Town as a BPO destination was clear for Radiant Law due to the exceptional quality of the personnel available here.”
