North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa has commended the police for a breakthrough and tireless effort in their investigation following the arrest of a 47 year old coloured woman in connection with the torching of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality offices. The suspect employed by the municipality as an accountant is to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates Court this morning following her alleged flight and arrest in Upington last week.
“No stone will be left unturned. We are confident that ongoing investigations should lead to the arrest of all involved,” MEC Yawa said.
Damage to computers, books, furnisher and other equipment and records in the procurement and salary division offices was estimated at over R1 million after the municipal building was set alight around midnight ten day ago.
