Appointment of the new Warrant Officer of the South African National Defence Force

The Chief of the South African National Defence Force (C SANDF), General Solly Shoke has pleasure in announcing the appointment of the new Warrant Officer of the SANDF, Senior Chief Warrant Officer (SCWO) Mothusi Victor Kgaladi, with effect from 1 September 2011.

Senior Chief Warrant Officer Mothusi Victor Kgaladi was born on 27 April 1957 in Soweto, Johannesburg. He attended primary school in Tladi, Soweto at Lumelang Primary School where after he attended Moletsane High School until 1976.

After joining Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) he did his basic and further military training in Angola in 1976 and 1977. During 1978, he went for further military training in the then German Democratic Republic (GDR) in East Germany. Hereafter he held various posts in the command structures of MK while stationed in Angola and Zambia.

From 1985 until the end of armed activities, he was a member of the MK Special Operations Command. After integration into the South African National Defence Force in 1995, he was posted to Group 33 Headquarters, where he served for a short while at Dingwell Base as a Warrant Officer in charge of the Ops Room.

Senior Chief Warrant Officer MV Kgaladi was transferred to Macadamia Ops Base as Warrant Officer in Charge in July 1997. He was the base Sergeant Major until March 2001 when he was transferred to SA Army Headquarters.

From April 2001 to December 2004, he was the Warrant Officer of Inspector General in the SA Army. From February 2004 to March 2007 he was the Warrant Officer of the SA Army Combat Training Centre. Senior Chief Warrant Officer Mothusi Victor Kgaladi was appointed as the Warrant Officer of the SA Army 1 April 2007. Senior Chief Warrant Officer (SCWO) Mothusi Victor Kgaladi is the proud holder of the following medals:

  • The Operational Medal for Southern Africa
  • UNITAS Medal
  • Service Medals in Silver and Bronze
