Jonathan Alan Ells (29) will be extradited from South Africa to America today to face charges for his alleged involvement in the production of Child Pornography.
In 2002, the Washington State Patrol executed a search warrant on Jonathan’s premises and discovered overwhelming images and IT software containing child pornography. However, Jonathan Alan Ells fled from Seattle, Washington, USA in 2004.
In 2005, a formal extradition request was made by the US Authorities to have him arrested in South Africa and extradited to the US to face charges of child pornography which he is alleged to have committed whilst residing in the USA.
The suspect appeared before the magistrate’s court in Krugersdorp on 11 July 2011 where the extradition order was granted. Ells appealed against this order and the matter was referred to the High Court. On 27 October 2011 the order was upheld by the High Court.
The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development has since issued an order for Ells to be extradited to the appropriate authorities of the United States of America. He will be handed over to the US officers today by members of our Interpol National Central Bureau.
Once again, this proves that the world is a very small place for criminals that think they can get away after committing such misdeeds.
